Hal Burton | President and CEO

A graduate from the US Military Academy at West Point with a B.S. degree in Engineering (1979), Hal served in the US Army as a Support Operations Officer and as a NATO Support Officer. Hal held management positions with Corning Glass in Packaging, Production, and Quality Control from 1986 to 1990. In 1995, he became President of a Houston-based logistics firm, providing services in a combined 1.5 million square feet in multiple facilities in Houston, TX, Dallas, TX and Charleston, SC. In 2003, Hal acquired the Charleston operations, renaming the company Premier Logistics Solutions. He has served on the Board of Directors for WERC, CSCMP, Maritime Association of the Port of Charleston and currently serves on the following boards: Charleston Chamber of Commerce and The Propeller Club of Charleston. Hal has been with Premier since 2003.

Betsy Burton | VP Quality Control

A native of New Jersey, Betsy graduated in 1979 from Villanova University in Villanova, Pennsylvania with a B.S. degree in Accounting. At Premier, she has held the positions of Vice President, Internal Audit and Vice President, Operations. Previously, she spent over ten years as a civil servant working six years as an auditor for the US Army Audit Agency, two years as the Financial Management Branch Office Manager for NATO in Izmir, Turkey and two years as an accountant for the Finance and Accounting Department at the Defense Electronic Supply Center in Dayton, Ohio. Her operational audit experience included logistics, transportation, information management, training and medical support. She has served in several volunteer organizations heading various committees and is currently a member of Charleston Women in International Trade and Women in Defense. Betsy has been with Premier since 2004.

Stewart Bauknight | director of sales & Client solutions

A South Carolina native, Stewart graduated with a B.S. in International Business Administration from the American University of Paris in Paris, France and got her M.A. in International Relations from Webster University Geneva in Geneva, Switzerland.  Stewart came from a business process consultancy and spent twelve years in Europe working for the World Trade Organization. She traveled to sixty countries and trained governments on international trade policy.  She is a past chairman and board member of the SC International Trade Conference and serves on the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce’s World Trade Center Executive Steering Committee. She is a member of Charleston Women in International Trade, the SC International Trade Coalition and Charleston Defense Contractors Association.

Lisa Manus | Transportation Director

Lisa has been with Premier since 2007.  A native of New Hampshire, Lisa graduated from the University of New Hampshire in Durham with a B.S. degree in Zoology and a Business minor. Since Lisa joined Premier Logistics has held the positions of Logistics Services Manager and Transportation Manager. She was then promoted to Transportation Director in 2015.  Prior to joining Premier, Lisa had worked for over 7 years in the logistics and transportation industries for a third party warehouse, a customs broker, an intermodal trucking company and for a manufacturer of wood moldings products as Traffic Manager. She is an active member of local organizations such as Charleston Women in International Trade, Customs Broker & Freight Forwarding Association and is on the Board of Directors for the Charleston Motor Carriers Association.

David Carroll | Transportation Manager

A native of Charleston, David attended The Citadel. Upon graduation he accepted a commission in the Army and served as a Field Artillery officer for several years. In the late 1980s, he embarked upon a long career in petrochemical transportation and logistics. He served over 20 years with two of the nation’s largest transporters of fuel, liquid chemicals and bulk resins; the resins being transported in both pelletized and molten form.  He held Dispatch and Operations Manager Positions before serving as a Terminal Manger in multiple locales throughout the Southeast. He then spent several years as a Field Safety Coordinator, overseeing the training and safe operation of terminals in an area from Key West to Nashville and back to the Atlantic coast, before transitioning into a Regional Operations Manager for the Savannah River area of SC & GA. In 2011, fate brought him back to Charleston where he joined Premier, first as a Dispatcher and then as Transportation Safety Director, before assuming his present role.

Richard Ashton | Facilities, Safety, & Security Manager

A California native, Richard joined Premier Logistics Solutions in 2005 and has held the positions of Warehouse Manager, Operations Manager and Facilities, Safety & Security Manager. Prior to joining Premier, Richard served for over 30 years in the United States Marine Corps and retired as a Sergeant Major with 2 Combat Tours. He has over 20 years’ experience in logistics and transportation with extensive management experience in various size organizations and intensive training in the areas of security, leadership and management. Richard has been with Premier since 2005.

Lourdes Mortera | Chief Finance officer

A native of the Philippines, Lourdes graduated from the Philippine School of Business Administration with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and achieved certification as a Certified Public Accountant from the Philippine Board of Accountancy in 1978. Prior to joining Premier, Lourdes worked as a professor in financial accounting for a university, and a chief financial officer for a furniture importer/exporter. She has over 25 years of experience in inventory management, warehouse operations and in cost, managerial and financial accounting. Lourdes has been with Premier since 2010.

Jason Whitehead | Warehousing Director

A native of South Carolina, Jason graduated from Gardner Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and minor in Political Science. Jason has 20 years of experience in the transportation, logistics, and supply chain management industry. He has extensive experience in terminal management, business development, sales management, and operations management in the LTL transportation industry. Jason has managed multiple LTL facilities in the southeastern US.
